Rachael Hutchinson’s remarkable journey as a Consultant Orthopaedic surgeon is truly inspiring. Since establishing a dedicated paediatric orthopaedic service in Norfolk and Norwich in 2008, she has significantly impacted the lives of children with disabilities. Her commitment to ensuring access to high-quality, specialized expertise in orthopaedics is evident in the growth of her department, which now includes four consultants, enhancing care for children across the Easton region and surrounding general hospitals.

Rachael’s extensive training and experience, from her medical education in Leeds to specialized fellowships in America and Australia, have equipped her with invaluable knowledge in treating children with orthopaedic and neurodisability challenges. Her postgraduate degree in gait analysis and function, along with a Masters in Public Health Medicine, further solidify her expertise. Additionally, her roles as a medical classifier for British Para-swimming and the Lead Medical Classifier for British Para Table Tennis demonstrate her dedication to promoting inclusivity in sports.

Driven by a passion for optimizing function in individuals with disabilities, Rachael emphasizes the importance of understanding one’s body and the balance between range of motion, strength, and control. She advocates for equal opportunities in fitness and activities for the disabled community, recognizing the unique challenges they face.
